Day 1 with Olie

I got my first foster dog ever today! His name is Olie. Olie is adoptable through Red Waggin Rescue which is based out of Connell Washington but they have lots of fosters on the west side too. You can see Olie's Petfinder profile here. Olie is a 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix. He was being boarded at the boarding kennel that I work at while the rescue searched for a foster home and I fell in love with him. I asked my parents if I could foster a dog and they said I could. I contacted the rescue and told them that I was very interested in fostering Olie. I submitted an application and got approved to foster him.

He sometimes has a worried look
When I brought Olie home he puked once in the car, about 30 minutes into the drive. Poor guy. He puked on the towel that I had brought along just in case though! When I got home I asked my sister to bring my dog, Ben, to the park so we could introduce the dogs on neutral territory. Ben has had a lot of random dogs come into the house between raising Guide Dog puppies and pet sitting friend's dogs so I wasn't too worried about the meeting. It turns out I didn't need to worry at all. They sniffed each other and then decided they were both pretty cool. We walked them home about 5 minutes later.

He likes squeaky toys
My brother immediately fell in love with Olie and has decided "he is the chillest dog ever!" I set up the crate for him in my bedroom and he wasn't really fond of it. I then either forgot to latch it completely or he managed to unlatch one of the latches and he escaped while I was taking a shower. I have put a carabiner on the lower latch area of the crate so he can't undo it just to make sure.

He enjoys chilling on a dog bed
He whined a little bit when he was in the crate but settled down in about 5 minutes. He did not sleep through the night and woke me up around 3 am. I took him outside and he did really have to pee. We went back to bed and he slept until it was time for us to get up.
